WION Launches World Conferences Platform to Bring Global India Conversations Together
WION, the global news platform of Zee Media, has announced WION World Conferences, a series of summits and high-level forums focused on issues connecting India with global developments. The platform will cover AI, defence, tourism, sustainability, trade, education, diplomacy and the future of work, with events planned across India, Asia and Africa.

Key Takeaways
- Strategic developments align with India's long-term infrastructure and technology trajectory.
- Institutional market observers point to sustained corporate expansion and regulatory certainty.
WION, the global news platform from Zee Media, has announced WION World Conferences, a new series of summits, conferences and high-level engagements aimed at bringing together Indian and international voices on issues that increasingly cross national boundaries.
The platform will focus on subjects including artificial intelligence, defence, tourism, sustainability, diplomacy, global economics, education, technology and the future of work. It will also examine bilateral and country-to-country partnerships.
The initiative comes as businesses and governments reassess supply chains, technology strategies and international economic relationships. For India, these changes are creating opportunities while also raising questions around trade, technology, talent and cooperation with other countries.
Platform to bring policymakers and business leaders together
WION World Conferences will bring policymakers, business leaders, diplomats, investors, academics and industry experts into discussions on geopolitical and economic developments affecting countries and industries.
The programme will use several formats, including keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside conversations, closed-door roundtables and networking sessions.
Raktim Das, CEO of Zee Media Corporation Limited, said the initiative extends WION's role of connecting India's conversations with the wider world.
“WION has been about taking India’s conversations to the world and bringing the world’s conversations to India,” Das said. He described WION World Conferences as a natural extension of that mission and said the forums would bring together people shaping policy, business and society to examine major global questions and explore opportunities for collaboration.
First WION conference held in Colombo
Although the platform is being formally announced in September, its first engagement was held earlier in 2026.
The WION Global Innovation and Leadership Summit took place in Colombo in May, bringing together Sri Lankan business leaders, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss the future of India-Sri Lanka relations.
Economic cooperation emerged as an important theme at the summit. Sri Lankan business representatives called for changes in existing trade relations with India, including wider market access and deeper economic integration.
The Colombo meeting also reflected the broader approach planned for WION World Conferences, with discussions extending beyond traditional bilateral relations to examine areas where economic and strategic interests could overlap.
Tourism, tokenisation and AI education forums planned
The conference programme will continue in September with focused forums covering tourism, bond tokenisation and artificial intelligence in education.
These areas reflect the wider scope of the initiative. AI is increasingly influencing sectors beyond technology, including education, employment, business models and public policy. Tourism and trade are also being shaped by international economic and geopolitical developments.
The platform is expected to have a presence across India, Asia and Africa, while also engaging with major international gatherings such as Davos.
Conference discussions to extend across WION platforms
WION World Conferences will not be limited to physical events. Interviews and discussions from the gatherings are expected to be developed into television and digital content, including interviews, explainers, digital stories, opinion pieces and follow-up programmes.
The approach is intended to extend discussions beyond the conference venue and keep attention on issues where India's economic and strategic interests intersect with developments in other parts of the world.
For WION, the initiative expands its global news positioning into direct forums involving people working across policy, business, diplomacy and international affairs.
